THE FOUNDERS

Juan joined Copernicus Group in 2013 as Founding Partner and is Managing Director of Copernicus Spain & Perú.
He has held several leadership roles within the company, including Head of Legal, Head of Servicing, and Head of Iberia and Perú.
Juan holds a Law degree and a Master’s degree in Corporate Legal Advice from Universidad Complutense.
With over 20 years of experience in distressed debt and asset management, he previously served as Head of Legal Departments across three regional offices at Banco Popular. Later, he led the bank’s national Legal Department specializing in foreclosures and bankruptcies, managing over 20,000 delinquent mortgages and 10,000 corporate insolvency cases.
Juan personally handled Banco Popular’s 35 largest corporate bankruptcies.

His professional background combines senior leadership roles in global investment banking and capital markets, with deep expertise in financial strategy and corporate governance.
He served as Member of the Board of Citigroup Iberia, Co-Head of Investment Banking and Capital Markets at Citigroup Spain, and Managing Director at Citigroup Spain.
Previously, he was Co-Founder and Managing Director for Spain and Portugal at Salomon Smith Barney, and President & CEO of Nikko Securities SVSA.

Paul is a Founding Partner and joined Copernicus Group in 2014.
Since then, he has advised on over 200 NPL portfolio transactions across Spain, Portugal, France and Italy, bringing deep expertise in corporate finance, distressed assets, and cross-border advisory.
He has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies with First Class Honours and is a qualified Irish Chartered Accountant, with over 25 years of professional experience.
Before joining Copernicus, Paul was Director of Restructuring at KPMG Spain, advising lenders, debtors, and alternative investors. Earlier in his career, he advised private equity and corporate clients on M&A transactions, including some of the largest leveraged buyouts (LBOs) in Spain between 2004 and 2009.
He began his professional career at KPMG Dublin, auditing companies primarily in the technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) sector from 1997 to 2001.

Jérôme joined the team in April 2021 to create Copernicus in France.
As CEO of Copernicus France, Jerome has to develop and manage the company in the NPL and RE distressed assets sectors.
Jérôme has an MBA at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW – USA) and an MBA at Institut Supérieur de Gestion in Paris (ISG – France).
He has more than 30 years of professional experience in Financial Services where he held several management positions in the credit risk, collection/litigation and commerce/marketing functions of large banking establishments, in France and in the Benelux.
Before joining Copernicus, Jérôme was subsequently Chief Investment Officer for Intrum France where he positioned Intrum as an investor and servicer in NPL, Unsecured, Secured and SME debt portfolio. He also was co-shareholder with the private equity Apax Partners of BuyWay Personal Finance in Benelux, member of the Board of Directors and Chief Risk Officer. On this occasion, Jérôme managed and finalized the sale of NPLs, BtoC and BtoB debt portfolios.

Andrée joined the Copernicus team in 2021 and is General Manager of Copernicus Peru, where is responsible for the company’s business operations in the country, playing a key role in its growth, development and expansionHe holds an MBA and a Business Administration degree from University of Piura.
Andrée brings more than 15 years of experience in retail banking and collections, He developed a passion for collections holding the position of Collections Manager at Banco de Crédito del Perú, the largest bank in Peru, leading the various stages of the collection process, from the first contact to the judicial stage.
Previously, he worked in the Management Control and Finance division at Telefónica del Perú (Movistar), during the merger between fixed and mobile telephony.
BUSINESS UNITS

Fernando joined Copernicus Group in 2017 as Portfolio Manager of a NPL & REO portfolio.
Since then, he has taken on roles of increasing responsibility, contributing to strategic projects and leading cross-functional teams. Today, as Head of Servicing, he oversees all asset management projects and clients—including legal, real estate, and amicable recovery—managing a team of nearly 200 professionals.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Stock Market and Financial Markets from IEB Business School. His career has been shaped by strong analytical and financial capabilities, with expertise in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
Before joining Copernicus, he spent three years at KPMG advising financial institutions and investment funds on the sale and purchase of NPL portfolios, both secured and unsecured.

Joined Copernicus in 2014 and has over 10 years of experience in the analysis and underwriting of distressed debt and real estate investments.
B.Sc. in Economics from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
Previous experience working in the portfolio management team at Cerberus Capital, along with summer internships at Credit Suisse, BBVA, and Altura Markets.

At Copernicus Group since 2015, Cristina has held the role of Head of Real Estate Servicing since 2020, leading the management and disposal of real estate assets with a focus on maximizing returns for institutional clients and enhancing the efficiency of real estate teams.
With over 20 years of experience in the real estate sector, she has a proven track record in asset management across multiple asset classes, with divestment experience exceeding €500 million throughout her career.
Cristina previously worked as real estate Asset Manager at Hipoges and in the Corporate Division of Riofisa (formerly listed).

Javier joined Copernicus Group in 2017 and currently serves as Global Head of Underwriting and Fund Management.
He has participated in over 300 NPL and REO transactions across multiple jurisdictions, bringing deep expertise in asset valuation, risk analysis, and portfolio strategy.
Javier holds a Double Degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (First Class Honours) and École Supérieure d’Électricité (CentraleSupélec, Paris).
He also earned a full-time MBA from NYU Stern School of Business, with concentrations in Finance and Strategy.
Prior to joining Copernicus, he held positions at SAREB (Spain’s asset management company), Hipoges Advisory, TDX, Gescobro, Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas and CEMEX.
CORPORATE SERVICES

Raúl joined Copernicus Group in 2024 as CFO.
In this sense he handles finances, planning, and makes sure the Group run smoothly from a financial perspective.
He holds an Executive MBA from IESE Business School and is a Spanish native and fluent in English. Raúl has more than 25 years experience in finance, business transformation and strategy within different industries like student housing in the Dot Group (GSA and Yugo), real estate, airline (private jets and cargo), motor sports and retail.
Previously he began his professional career as an auditor in companies such as Arthur Andersen and Deloitte and is a certified auditor by the ROAC.
In the last seven years Raúl has raised more the €225 million to finance different projects in real estate (mainly in the PBSA or student housing industry).

Gianfranco joined Copernicus Group in 2018 and has steadily grown within the organization to become Deputy Chief Operating Officer.
He currently oversees operations across Spain, Italy, and France, ensuring strategic alignment, operational efficiency, and cross-border execution.
An Industrial Engineer with a degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Gianfranco brings a structured and results-oriented approach to his role. He also holds an Executive MBA from EAE Business School and a Master’s in Facility Management, which supports the Group’s real estate servicing capabilities as well as overall organizational strategies.
His background combines solid technical foundations with hands-on experience in NPL servicing, platform development, and international operations. He is fluent in Spanish, Italian, French, and English.

Iván joined Copernicus Group in 2018 as Head of Human Resources.
His added value in the company is focused on HR strategy, talent management, leadership development, organizational design, compensation & benefits, culture, and employee experience.
Iván holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a Master’s in Strategic Human Resources Management from IE Business School. He is also certified in Executive Coaching by Escuela Europea de Coaching.
He brings over 20 years of experience in Human Resources, primarily within the financial and banking sectors, having worked for leading multinational organizations.
Prior to joining Copernicus Group, he served as Head of Organization, Talent & Culture at Aktua and Intrum. Earlier in his career, he worked as an HR Project Manager at Banesto and Santander Bank, where he led international HR projects across LATAM.

Juan Pablo joined Copernicus in October 2015.
He is the Group Compliance Officer, AML/FT representative before the regulator in Spain and Data Protection Officer of some Group companies.He is focused on anticipating and resolving issues in key areas such as Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Data Protection, Crime Prevention, Whistleblowing Channels, the Code of Ethics, Conflicts of Interest, Reputational Risk, and Supplier Oversight.
Juan Pablo holds a law degree from the University of Navarra and an MBA from IESE Business School. Prior to joining Copernicus, he spent 18 years at Citigroup and before that 4 years at Banco Español de Crédito.

Since joining Copernicus in December 2022, Mario is in charge of internal audit and risk management functions.
He holds a Master’s degree in Auditing from the San Pablo CEU University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Granada.
Mario has over 11 years of experience focused on audit and risk management within the financial and real estate sectors. Prior to joining Copernicus, he worked as internal audit coordinator at SAREB and Grupo Banco Pichincha, and as financial auditor at the consulting firm Mazars.
